R is for Rest - This slows down any internal bleeding and reduces the risk of further damage.
I is for Ice – This will numb the pain, reduce swelling at the area, reduce bleeding immediately after injury and encourage blood flow in later stages of treatment.
C is for Compression - This reduces swelling and helps to reduce bleeding.
E is for Elevation – The use of gravity to reduce bleeding and a reduction in swelling by allowing fluids to flow away from the injured area.
